Brewing Tea

Brewing tea correctly makes all the difference in the world. It will take that cup of tea  from an "ok cup of tea," to a perfect cup of tea.  Let me show you how easy it can be.

The three elements of making great-tasting tea are the TEA, WATER, and STEEPING TIME...

Tea - Going organic with your tea is always the best choice.  The flavor is so much richer than non-organic teas - not to mention the health benefits. The perfect amount of tea per cup will assure great results.

Water -  Using the freshest filtered water possible and getting it to the right temperature matters when aiming for a delicious cup of tea.  Having your water and loose tea in the right proportions will also guarantee great success!

Steeping Time - the steeping time for tea varies depending on the kind of tea you are brewing and how strong you like your tea.  For most teas, the brewing time ranges from 2-5 minutes.

Steeping Instructions

1 teaspoon of loose tea per 8 oz. cup of water

White & Green Teas  175 degrees - (boil, cool 3 minutes) - Steep 2-3 minutes.

Oolong & Darjeeling Teas - 195 degrees (boil, cool 2 minutes) Steep 2-4 minutes.

Brewing a Pot of Tea

Brewing a pot of tea can be intimidating but it doesn't have to be.  It is similar to making a cup of tea.

Step 1:  The first step is to boil your filtered water and let it cool a little. Don't pour boiling water into your teapot all at once!  Pour a small amount of the hot water into the teapot only.  Swish the small amount of water all over the inside of the teapot to warm it up.  This will prevent cracks or damage to the teapot.  Discard the warming water.

Step 2:  After the teapot is warm, put your tea infuser basket inside the teapot opening with the measured tea inside. Most teapots hold about 5 cups of tea.  Use 1 tsp. of loose tea per 8 oz. cup of water. Pour hot water over the tea and let it steep for 4-5 minutes.  Remove the basket and set aside.

Step 3:  Place your teapot on a teapot warmer until ready to serve.

Invite a girlfriend over and enjoy your freshly brewed pot of tea together!
