Day 8 - Words of Life

Pumpkin Cheesecake. The tea is much healthier. :)

Welcome to Day 8 of our 12 Days of Christmas Tea Tasting. I'm not sure if the maids-a-milking were gathering their cream for cheesecake or not, but that's our tea for today. Pumpkin Cheesecake Tea. I know that pumpkin is more of a traditional Thanksgiving dish, but in our family, we serve pumpkin pie on our dessert table most Christmases. I'm not eating cheesecake for breakfast, but I'm delighting in a scone with my tea today. I usually keep the scones for parties or special occasions, but today I felt a little extra festive. Must be the cold damp weather in Texas.

Today's tea is caffeine free with a creamy and smooth blend of rooibos tea, carrot, cinnamon, currant, white chocolate pieces (contains dairy), pumpkin flakes, safflower, and nutmeg. Now do you see why it's named Pumpkin Cheesecake?

The milkmaid in the 12 Days of Christmas Song is not the same as a milkman that we tend to think of. She did not deliver milk. She was responsible for milking the cows. She used her milk to make cream, cheese, butter, and other dairy products (cheesecake?). She also had a variety of other duties on her Victorian dairy farm. Scrubbing the floors, shelves, walls, and windows were part of her daily life, as well as making sure her utensils and the dairy shed were clean. It's pretty obvious she had an important part of making sure that family life ran smooth.

As I've mentioned in an earlier post, the 8th day of Christmas symbolizes the eight Beatitudes found in the book of Matthew. They are words of life coming right from the lips of Jesus.

Matthew 5:1-10 NLT

One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them.

The Beatitudes

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.  God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

I pray you have a wonderful day as you reflect on this beautiful passage of Scripture.

Until tomorrow...
