TEA ROOM: The Crumpet Shop

The Crumpet Shop, Seattle, WA.

This summer my husband and I, along with two of our children, were traveling along the west coast and found ourselves in Seattle, Washington. A friend recommended that we take a walk through Pikes Place, a well-known section of the city. While we were walking throughout this bustling area, we walked past a business called The Crumpet Shop. My husband suggested we stop and check it out since I have always wanted to taste an English crumpet.

This family-owned tea shop was decorated with a contemporary charming style. The employees showed a friendly attitude toward everyone, even though this quaint shop was filled with customers and they struggled to get the line moving quickly. Their friendliness made our time there even more enjoyable.

I decided to play it safe and ordered crumpets with just butter. We took our Earl Grey teas and crumpets and found a few seats along the back wall on stools. I delighted in the fact that the majority of their customers chose to take their orders "to go."

The crumpets were delicious! We all agreed they reminded us of American English muffins, even though the texture of the crumpet was different. I wish now I would have tried one of the other toppings they offered instead of just butter.

You can order your crumpets sweet, savory, or with egg. Some of their toppings are:

Sweet:

Honey

Peanut Butter

Preserves

Maple Butter

Chocolate Hazelnut

and more

Savory:

Pesto with Fresh Tomato and Parmesan Cheese

Pesto and Ricotta Cheese

Ham and Cheese

and more

You can also order your crumpets with an egg topped with cheese, peppers, ham, tomato, and cucumbers. Lots of choices!

You will not walk away without your fill of tea either. They offer a "cup of unlimited tea" that is stationed on their counter in air pump carafes. Just pay for your cup and drink away! Some of their unlimited tea choices are: Irish Breakfast, Earl Grey, Herbal Blend, Rooibos, Yerba Mate. Choose from a 12 oz. or 16 oz. cup. Espressos, lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, and macchiatos are also available for coffee drinkers.

We truly enjoyed our visit to The Crumpet Shop and would definitely return if we visit Seattle again. If you have been to this shop, I would love to hear comments on your experience.
